Suzuki Early Childhood Education

Xylophone

Our weekly group classes are based on Dr Suzuki's philosophy and belief that children have a huge capacity to learn and this learning begins before they are even born.

We aim to create a calm, nurturing learning environment where children can learn at their own speed through observation of other children, modelling from adults and lots of encouragement.

The classes of maximum 10 children are roughly 50 minutes long. They are run on a term basis and are for all children from 0-3 years old and their caregiver.

Milly Rout and I teach these classes as a team which means that the transition between activities is quick and so that we have two pairs of eyes making sure that each child is being catered for in the class.

Using songs and nursery rhymes, we cover many aspects of music - pitch, rhythm, beat, dynamics (loud/soft), tempi (speed) - as well as other valuable skills including literacy, counting, listening, taking turns, Te Reo maori and more! Children also get the opportunity to play various percussion instruments each week.
